Cabinet meets this morning to consider economic strategy for the next seven

first_imgTHE CABINET IS holding a special meeting this morning to consider the government’s medium-term economic strategy that is expected to be published next week.Ministers will gather at Government Buildings at 8am to discuss the document which will be signed-off and published after the State formally exits its EU/IMF bailout programme on Sunday.The strategy document will detail the coalition’s economic priorities up to 2020 and will outline how the government intends to meet its various targets over the next seven years including bringing down its deficit to GDP ratio to 3 per centTaoiseach Enda Kenny told the Dáil last month that the strategy will “include a recommitment to bringing Government borrowing down to sustainable levels during the remainder of this Government’s term of office”.“It will be an economic plan based on enterprise, not speculation,” Kenny said at the time.Read: Taoiseach to make televised address to the country on Sunday nightRead: Government budget advisors: No room for tax cuts until after 2016last_img
